Collection: About the Artist
Yulia Shic is a Moscow-born artist based in Los Angeles whose work focuses on contemporary ballerinas and the abstract. As a child, she was inspired by the paintings of Edgar Degas and the music of Tchaikovsky. Raised in a family of classical musicians and scientists, she grew up in an atmosphere of both discipline and artistry. Yulia spent her childhood attending the Bolshoi theater and museums. Her mother, a professional pianist, often accompanied her ballet classes on the piano, nurturing her lifelong connection between movement, music, and visual art.
Yulia’s passion for painting, dance, and music radiates through her presence, reflecting in her aura and luminous sparkle. She studied art and philology at the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow and has lived across Europe, including Greece, France, and Italy. Her life unfolds like a film, filled with mystery, romance, and adventure, enriched by countless stories and friendships around the world. Her paintings often reflecting that same mystery, passion, and love, radiating feminine energy and celebrating the beauty of the female body. Her favorite pallet is blue, especially shades of indigo and turquoise, that makes you dive into her ocean of imagination.
Yulia often dances as she paints, immersing herself fully in the rhythm and emotion of her art, working for days until her vision is complete. Fluent in five languages, she brings a cosmopolitan sensibility to her paintings, offering a diversity of works that are captivating the grace of ballet with a contemporary, timeless style.
